Illustration: Learning from life drawing

First some  30-seconds quick sketches, then a 3 hour sketching of the model. Learned so much that day.
Start with anatomy. Learning how to relax your muscles, to draw using your arm instead of your wrist, and trying to feel the energy of the model's body. Look at the way she stands as a whole figure, and not precisely at all the details. To understand what her body is telling you. Learn the body language. As I was drawing her, I realize how my mind works and what it does to confuse me when I am trying to convey reality to the paper. As you try to draw every single detail from the beginning of your process, your brain does not look the whole picture and he cannot find the right relation between the parts of the body. ..and somehow you end up with a big-head girl and a paraplegic foot.

So you have to look at it as a whole picture. Sketch it as a quick figure, with other words, draw your first impression of what you see. You can then focus on the details : )

Mine were more like caricatures.
